We provide professional vinyl record cleaning services utilitzing the renowned Loricraft PRC-4 record cleaning machine.

The cleaning process includes

  • First, a solution that removes bacteria and fungi (moulds and mildew) which will attach to and grow in the grooves of your records, this is left on for about 30 seconds.
  • Second (if suitable and required), for very dirty or extremely abused records an aggressive, extra hard working solvent, in addition to other chemicals is used.  This solution can be used only on vinyl records not 78’s.
  • The record cleaning machine cleans all the solution from the record.
  • Then a final solution which contains no alcohol, is non-toxic, anti-static and environmentally friendly is used.   This solution is removed using the record cleaning machine and the process is repeated for the other side of the record.  This solution is suitable for 78’s.

The makers of the final cleaning solution listed say using it will assist in cartridge tracking, minimize damage to the record and reduce static effects.  Harry Pearson in his article in The Absolute Sound June/July 2005 Issue 154 says of this product that it is “a record cleaning fluid that really does sound different from the more conventional isopropyl-based cleaners.  It contains no alcohol, is biodegradable, and can’t hurt you, though I wouldn’t advise drinking it!  The conventional alcohol-based fluid deposited an electronic glaze over the sound, one particularly noticeable on the upper frequencies.  This glaze increases the apparent ‘definition’ in the same way that most transistorized amplifiers do, and to these ears, emphasizes the electronic nature of the sound.  (Using this solution) that glaze is gone and just the music is left.  I like this stuff!  I couldn’t imagine going back to the conventional cleaning fluids.”

Robert H Levy says that after using this cleaning solution his records are “quieter and more dynamic.  The mids were improved, with increased definition and more palpable musical textures.  Even 200 gram virgin vinyl sounded better.”  We agree with him.
